Cleansing Green Juice

One of the major reasons I love juicing is because it allows you to get in an abundance of a VARIETY of produce into your diet, that you wouldn't normally get... cabbage? broccoli? cauliflower? Yup - you can juice them all! The sky is the limit (except don't try avocadoes or bananas, those are the two I would not recommend juicing).  So start getting creative, don't fear putting a cabbage head through your juicer.... I did and it came out fabulous and want to share the recipe!!

Why cabbage?  It's rich in nutrients that support liver detoxification and is specifically known for its glucosinolates, which have shown to have unique cancer prevention properties. Also an excellent source of Vitamin K, C and a good source of B6 and Manganese, this a valuable phytonutrient rich vegetable to include in the diet.  

Have no fear, you've got a delicious cabbage juice recipe here!


INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 head cabbage
  • 2 Carrots
  • 4 Pears
  • 1 head Romaine Lettuce
  • Optional to add 1" Ginger Root

Wash all ingredients.  Push through your juicer at medium-high speed.  Serve over ice or store in a mason jar and keep in the fridge for 24-48 hrs. Serves 24-32 oz.

The New Kid on the Block Juice

Are you new to juicing? Never tried it and think that you just hate all veggies so why would this weird green drink be ANY different?  Well my friend, that's where we can start to play, have some fun and customize your juice to fit where you are at! Try this recipe which is a little higher in fruits and sugar than most of my other juice and smoothie recipes.  This is the perfect juice to share with kids or to adults who are new to plant-based eating and skeptical if this "green stuff is any good"

I assure you that after this recipe they will be begging for more!!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/4 Pineapple
  • 2 Apples
  • 1 Lemon
  • Handful of Spinach
  • 1 Cucumber (or celery)

DIRECTIONS

1. Wash produce well.  Peel pineapple.  Put produce through the juicer chute and serve over ice.

SERVES: 1-2 (16 oz each)

Clean me out Green Juice

This recipe is loaded with phytonutrients like magnesium, lutein and antioxidants like Vitamin C.  The combination of leafy greens, ginger, parsley and lemon all have incredible detoxifying properties for the liver.  Ginger gives a nice spicy kick, so add extra if you want!

INGREDIENTS:

  • Handful of Spinach (Iron, Folate, Magnesium)
  • Handful of Kale (antioxidants, Vitamin K)
  • 1 Cucumber (hydrating)
  • 2 Apples (*Organic if you can)
  • Knob of Ginger (detoxifying properties)
  • Small Handful of Parsley (detoxifying properties)
  • 1 Lemon (anti-microbial, Vitamin C)

DIRECTIONS: Wash all ingredients well. Add all ingredients to your juicer chute. Serve over ice.

SERVES: 2, 16 oz servings
