When Kim came in looking to lose weight before her wedding (& also goals to improve fertility after coming off birth control), She felt stuck… she’d been doing a great job trying to rev her metabolism by feeding up + eating adequate amount for what her body needed of healthy foods + working with an excellent health coach, but she was struggling to see progress (was working out 5+ days and wanting to go into 2 a days to try anything to try and get the weight off), but didn’t realize shifts to address the deeper ROOT causes that were hindering her progress - PCOS + hypothyroid (which until I looked at her lab work she didn’t realize was actually an autoimmune condition called hashimotos which no doctor had told her). Over the course of our work together, Kim lost 10pounds, improved body comp, and we were able to wean her off her thyroid medication + blood pressure medications! Kim’s back from her wedding and had these awesome photos to share!

When I first started working with Kristen and my fx med doc my body was in pretty rough shape. I was constantly fatigued, forgetful, my menstrual cycle was all over the place, and I generally felt 'off.' I quickly learned about everything that was out of whack and that I needed to detoxify my body and give it support to recover.

Flash forward 4 months and now I have:

✅my cycle is more regular

Working with Kristen has been life changing. I have found a community through her and her practice which is the cornerstone to a healthy lifestyle. I feel so supported and have learned that health is so much more than the foods we put in our bodies and how we look, but it’s how we treat ourselves and lead a life of balance.

I’ve been able to make better food choices yes, but I’ve also learned the importance of sleep, stress management, and digestion. My appearance has changed but more importantly I FEEL so much happier.

I reached a breaking point in my health and knew I needed help. I was suffering from over training, under recovering & ignoring signs to relax under chronic stress. Luckily I quickly found Kristen. ⠀

Not only did her personal story/history resonate with mine, she is incredibly well educated on what needed to be done and 👉to be frank my standards were high being in health care myself. 👉She lays out a clear plan and she was always there to answer my questions or concerns. Most importantly, she listens to me. I know how important this simple aspect can be, and she rocks it. She listens to my journey, adjusts my plan accordingly, and can empathize with the process. ⠀
👉Daily health and nutrition is not cookie cutter, and she is prepared for every bump in the road. I am still on the road of healing, but we have come so far already. ⠀

Working with Kristen became a transformative experience for me, which impacted and improved so many aspects of my life. For years I was striving to get to the best possible shape and become stronger and more athletic.⠀

I was working out every day (often twice a day) and I was very conscious and restrictive of what I eat- and yet I had not seen any results. The reflection in the mirror refused to change and the body composition was not improving.⠀

Kristen helped me establishing very impactful daily practices to achieve my goals. More importantly, Kristen helped me to move from abusing my body through endless cardio and questionable training routine to respecting what my body really needs and building efficient workout plan, supported by nutrition.⠀

3 month after I have started working with Kristen my weight got very close to my target weight, my body composition started to change and I am fascinated by the results I see in the mirror.I really feel good every day and have plenty of energy. I don’t need endless amount of caffeine anymore to get me through my day (in fact I forgot when I had coffee last time), my sleep significantly improved, I don’t have the intense feeling of being hungry every two hours as I used to have. ⠀

I knew I had some blind spots but I didn’t know where to start. PPIs have become an every day prescription… Someone is experiencing reflux (like Brian) they’re prescribed a PPI like omeprazole & not really questioned about the underlying root cause or addressing lifestyle factors / looking at other aspects as to WHY they are needed in the first place & how to actually heal.⠀

Brian was no different, but he knew there was more to it - he was experiencing GI issues, bloating, throat inflammation and trouble swallowing, coughing/itchy throat, and still reflux and heartburn! He just didn’t know where to start and how to go about the healing process! That’s where we stepped in and after 6 weeks I got the message 👉 “Kristen you’ve healed me!” I didn’t heal him, he did himself - he just needed the tools, guidance, and protocol to heal his gut!

The one thing that really helped Brian was his TRUST IN THE PROCESS, he was ready to do whatever it took. Awesome work Brian!⠀

In working with you, I changed how I viewed my health. I remember my first call, I was in such anxiety of WHAT IS HAPPENING TO ME AND WHERE DO I START. I was SO overwhelmed. I was scared of the word “testing” and “supplements” and wanted to pretend like this would just away… Every other time in the past, I never stuck with a protocol, but with my ups/downs, you were always there. If I went off path, you were able to help me re direct/re focus and that’s what makes a great coach.

I’ve shifted the focus from dealing with sickness/fear to striving for health. You helped me examine all possibilities, explain what’s going on & eliminating fear/anxiety & shifting to a mindset of —>how can I optimize my health rather than seeing it as punishment. Overtime cognition has improved & gut symptoms were far less severe & frequent w the protocol. . It’s still a journey, but I’m no longer living in fear - I knows these aspects take TIME & there is a process of healing.

Before/After photos just a few months apart from working together - Paul + Bethany are two awesome hard working people I’m grateful to work with! Both have high demanding jobs, work out consistently , but just kind of were lost when it came to “what/how to eat”. They were both wanting to tone up & look their best for their upcoming wedding.

Bethany was really nervous “you mean I can actually eat MORE and will lose weight/change my body composition” - why yes, that is true! You see, if we are underfeeding our body and putting high amounts of stress on it constantly, it never has time to recover, and also gets fearful that you are just going to continue to deprive it - so it stores what it can as fat and resists any movement….. and it’s our trained cultural belief that “if I want to lose more, I just need to restrict more, workout harder/longer, and continue to eat less ‘calories in’”. Calories in and calories out is NOT the whole picture! Bethany started eating carbs again (it was a big fear at first “won’t I gain weight”?!), started eating more at breakfast, started fueling properly throughout the day eating every 3-4 hours. .

Same with Paul - he’s now converted to having a green smoothie every morning for breakfast, packing what he needs in his bag so he is prepared 👊and especially a pre and post workout mini meal/snack. Hydration💧, pairing fiber/protein at meals/snacks, preparing ahead of time, making nutrition a priority, working on 💤 sleep, awareness of food labels and options, eating every few hours to manage blood sugar and energy levels, and bringing an abundance of plant rich food into the diet (more color = more energy efficiency in the body!). With a few key foundations to build on, the body will reap amazing benefits!

I’ve had multiple concussions & recovery gets longer with each one. Thanks to Kristin & the concussion protocol that she gave me it shortened my recovery time to 1 week instead of 3-4 weeks. Her protocol was more helpful than anything I’ve received from Neurologists, the ER or prestigious concussion clinics. 😩🧐if you are in need of support reach out!!! Also for anyone suffering with TBI (traumatic brain injury or concussion), checkout Dr Rob Silvermans work, April’s protocol came from some of his recommendations he uses for TBI in clinic - he offers a lot of great content on the internet and I’ve had the great pleasure to hear him speak at health conferences focusing on functional integrative medicine!

I entered the Health One program Kristen taught at TriHealth looking to get a jump start on losing 30-40 pounds. Within 6 months with the help of Kristen, family, and friends support I lost 130 pounds and am still going in, the follow up course to Health One, Strides. I’ve learned how to eat, what to eat, and how to portion foods. I’ve learned healthy eating is not the only recipe to weight loss.

Exercise, support, accountability and more come in to play. I started with several routines, and now those routines are habit. My energy level has gone through the roof and filled me up with positivity. I’m getting ready to turn 41 and I haven’t felt this great since high school. I always blamed my aches and pains on my lower back which I had surgery on. After losing the weight I’ve realized the aches and pains came from my weight. I love having the energy to hang out with my boys. I can truly say I’ve missed a lot, but have gained so much more by getting on this journey. I’ve tried many diets and have spoke with many people and nothing had worked. After my family recommended Kristen I was skeptical. I was wrong!

The time and devotion she’s put into me and all the other participants is amazing. She looks at everyone as an individual and not as a group. There’s so much to say. The main thing I’ll continue to say is you won’t be disappointed. Thank you Kristen!

It is an honor to give a testimonial for Kristen! Words cannot express the gratitude I feel for her being a part of my life. Kristen is genuine, kind, and has unlimited information when it comes to nutrition. She has given me the foundation of what a healthy lifestyle is for me personally. She understands the mind games our brain plays on us and has increased my knowledge around shame, habits, and self-compassion. I know food is more than just calories and I am now confident in the qualities I look for in food.

For the first time in my life, I have and still am experiencing success with avoiding the traps of yoyo dieting. My liver enzymes are back in range, I have lost 90 pounds, and learned how to stop the yoyo dieting. I have been on my journey for since September 2015 and have broken many bad habits that I have been able to replace with realistic healthy habits.  September 12, 2018 will be my three year anniversary of my lifestyle change that includes me being 90 pounds lighter. Although Kristen says, I did all the hard work... I know the work was easier with her guidance and inspiration. I've learned it's never all or nothing anymore. You don't have to wait until tomorrow, you don't even have to wait until the next meal.. if you have an unhealthy choice, you can have a fruit or vegetable with it. It's about the planning ahead, I think completely different now. Things come up, and life is busy and I always have things I grab. One of the biggest things I've learned is it is not all or nothing anymore. It's stuck with me the water, exercise, the protein and fiber pairings. It was hard and it didn't come overnight, but it is a journey. The scale is not my anymore.

On October 30th, 2016, my doctor’s office gave me my blood test results. My A1c (diabetes test) was 6.3. I asked what that meant. I was told the following (Less than 5.6 is totally normal, non-diabetic, 5.7 - 6.3 is pre-diabetic, Greater than 6.4 is diabetic) I was told to follow up with my doctor in 6 months, and I made my appointment. No advice, no instructions, no medications. See you in 6 months. Yikes!!!! After a brief freak-out I gathered my senses and thought “how much more damage is going to happen in 6 months!?! What am I going to do?!?” I know a little about diabetes, but not enough. I knew the doctor would want me to do some sort of diabetes education, lose weight, increase my activity, eat right…etc. But where do I start? When do I start? How do I start? I can’t wait 6 months!!! The logical place for me to start was getting control of my eating, and thus my sugar. I could not let it get worse. Eating right means what? How do I do this? Why me?! You have to understand, all these thoughts are rushing through my head in a frenzy. I was overwhelmed, frustrated, angry, scared, and under-educated. I wanted to cry! My life had taken a huge turn, and I wasn’t happy with the new view. I had to take control, get control, and keep control. OH! I’ll ask a dietician, a nutrition specialist, someone who could give me some guidelines. So I called and made an appointment with Kristen.

Honestly, I wasn’t looking forward to the changes I needed to make. But when I sat down with her, she gave me a lot of information all at once, but made it easy to understand. (Deep breath. I can do this.) Kristen made me realize that with some changes in the way I eat, not just what I eat, all of the things would start to fall in place. She gave me guidelines, knowledge, and empowerment. It was the first time since hearing my results that I actually felt like I could do something about my health. It was the first and most important step on my new journey. The view started to change. I followed the guidelines using the handouts Kristen gave me. That was pretty easy, and it just keeps getting easier. My sugar cravings and my carb cravings basically went away in about a week. Wow, my daily sugar levels are really improving! I grocery shop with Kristen’s paperwork in my hand. It keeps me from buying the less healthy items. I started walking. Every day. Not far, and not fast. Just walking. I now try to walk a mile every day, but if I don’t do it, I don’t beat myself up. I just try again tomorrow. I can go out to eat with my friends now. I know what the better options are, and how they will affect my sugar. I log everything I eat. If I have a bad sugar day, I know why. I just try again tomorrow. If I have a great sugar day, which is happening very often, I know why. I log my activity. Walking, housecleaning, gardening, everything counts!

And now for the biggest news: I have lost 50 pounds in just over 4 months and still going strong! My A1c test is now 5.7 (barely pre-diabetic) and that was tested just 3 months after starting the better way of eating. I’m doing it! You can too! Thank you Kristen!
